NEWLY REFURBISHED DUPLEX SUITES AWAIT GUESTS AT INTERCONTINENTAL BALI RESORT
Categories Club & Suites, ItsroomwithasoulAs part of its ongoing room upgrade programme, InterContinental Bali Resort is proud to present its newly refurbished Duplex Suites. In keeping with the overall concept of the Resort, each of the 38 split-level suites retains the artistic craftsmanship, ambience and identity of Bali.
Each spacious blue-themed suite is creatively infused with colonial charm. Covering 79 square metres of expertly optimised space in the style of an elegant private residence, each plush interior features a large living room, with a sofa bed and an adjoining guest powder room. Sliding glass doors open to a private balcony, offering superb views of the Resort’s serene tropical gardens, and a solid wooden staircase leads to a homely, attic-like mezzanine, revealing an open-plan master bedroom and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in dressing room and vanity area.
The contemporary design of the suites imaginatively plays with the shapes of local forms, such as the hand-painted wall murals, which showcase an abstract flower motif derived from an ornamentation discovered on a Balinese temple wall relief carving in the Singaraja area. Table lamps were inspired by the terracotta crowns that adorn traditional Balinese thatched roofs; soft furnishings introduce a blend of ethnic and classic Indonesian fabrics complemented by tasteful, colour-coordinated cushions, rugs, and ‘ikat’ bedspreads. Commissioned paintings of the lion-like Balinese ‘Barong’ – the representative of everything good in the mythological Hindu tradition – further reflect the island’s artisanal and cultural heritage. The classical furniture, including a large and comfortable, L-shaped segmented sofa in the living room and a chaise longue in the bedroom, has been conceived with an eye for sophistication and style. Indonesian wood from sustainable sources is combined with tropical hardwood veneers and lacquered tobacco leaf, while eye-catching details include the hand carved teakwood headboard panels, which display ancient woodwork patterns typical of those seen on traditional Balinese doorways. The suites retain their original polished teakwood flooring, carefully restored to bring new life to this rich and valuable material. Luxurious conveniences include the spa-styled bathrooms, crafted in Indonesian marble, each with an indulgent bathtub, and a shower room decorated with narrow, vertical, glass tiles in muted shades of blue to create the impression of movement with a waterfall effect. Bathrooms are completed with contemporary fixtures and fittings from Hansgrohe, as well as an attractive range of accessories designed to harmonise with the new décor, synonymous with the style of the Resort.
Within this relaxed, personal domain, guests can enjoy all the latest comforts and appliances, including a High Definition Smart IPTV system, with a 43-inch screen wall-mounted in both the bedroom and the living space. The system provides access to countless digital TV channels, movies-on-demand and live streaming, as well as a messaging interface for In-Room dining and Concierge services. Intelligent electrical control devices include a master switch beside the bed, as well as bed-top and desktop level universal power points and USB charging ports. Energy saving is addressed with occupancy sensors, which control the LED lighting and air-conditioning thermostats when no one is present.
Intercontinental Bali Resort is pleased to enrich the experience of its guests by bringing the soul of Bali to life with these redesigned suites, new features and enhancements.
